Hi we are planning a couple of nights in November at The Sefton in Douglas. My question is, which is the better mode of transport? We have never been to the island before and from what I can see the best options are Easyjet from L'pool or the ferry. Are you travelling from Grimsby? If so you might find Flybe from Manchester a better option. Transpennine Express runs regular direct trains from Grimsby to Manchester Airport.

By ferry, you have the option of the Fast Ferry from Liverpool , although that seems to be somewhat unreliable at present. The other ferry option is the regular sailing from Heysham, to catch that you would need to leave Grimsby at The ferry sails at This post has been removed at the author's request. Many thanks for your replies, my hubby has taken it out of my hands and booked all in by ferry from Heysham including Sefton hotel which seems really good value. Having read your replies I am now a bit nervous to say the least just hope we get a smooth crossing and it's not cancelled! There are 3 ferry routes operating between England and Isle of Man offering you combined total of 27 sailings per week. As the frequency and duration of crossings on some routes varies we would advise that you do a live search for crossings from England to Isle of Man to get the most up to date information.
